Chandigarh: Accused of 3-year-old robbery case convicted

Additional district and sessions judge Najar Singh on Thursday convicted a Sector-52 resident for robbing a man after injuring him with a sharp-edged weapon.

Additional district and sessions judge Najar Singh on Thursday convicted a Sector-52 resident for robbing a man after injuring him with a sharp-edged weapon.

The court would pronounce quantum of sentence against convict identified as Sanjiv (27), resident of Sector 52, on March 10. Ravi, the co-accused in the case, had already died during the pendency of the trial.

The UT police had booked Sanjiv following a complaint made by Rakesh, a Sector-52 resident, who had alleged that Sanjiv and Ravi had attacked him with a sword on March 26, 2012, and left had him injured before fleeing with his purse.

Rakesh said he was attacked at 8:30 pm when he was on his way back home from Sector 25.

“Sanjiv and his accomplice had stopped and attacked me. They then snatched my purse that had important documents and cash amounting to Rs 300,” said Rakesh.
