The Hindi version of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's book, In The Line of Fire, was on Friday banned by the Chandigarh administration.

The administration said the book contained objectionable material as the maps of India published in it did not confirm to maps published by the Survey of India.

A spokesman for the administration said that the Survey of India had reported that the book had maps in which the Line of Control running through Jammu and Kashmir had been shown inaccurately, with Indian areas shown as falling in Pakistan and China.

Some other Indian areas had been shown as disputed territory.

The administration has ordered the confiscation of remaining copies of the Hindi version.
