According to Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature remained above 40 degree Celsius, which is two notches above normal. There was also considerable increase in the minimum temperature, which was recorded at 28.4 degree Celsius on Sunday — six notches above normal.

The relative humidity is also decreasing fast, meaning the city is fast heading for a sultry dry weather.

In the coming days, with Chandigarh Meteorological Centre predicting partly cloudy sky, there may be a little respite from the scorching sun for the next three days. The maximum temperature will also see a little decrease in the coming days, settling around 37 degrees Celsius. Apart from that, the Met has predicted light rain/thundershowers at isolated places in the next 24 hours.
