The Congress also gave a memorandum to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal reiterating its demand for a CBI probe against Maluka. The memorandum was handed over to joint principal secretary of the chief minister. The protestors were led by Congress MLAs Charanjit Singh Channi, Tarlochan Sood and Hardayal Kamboj and Madan Lal Jalalpur, a former party MLA.
Channi said Maluka was guilty of moral and financial corruption and also accused of nepotism in his department. He said Maluka had violated all norms and ethics by bringing his daughter-in-law Parampal Kaur on deputation from rural development department to the education department and gave her all administrative powers. He said the wings of director general of school education KS Pannu were clipped and Parampal Kaur was made additional DGSE.
