Cops sensitised about child laws

A one-day workshop on child issues was organised by women and child support unit and anti-human trafficking unit of the UT police in collaboration with Child Line Chandigarh at Recruit Training Centre, Sector 26, on Tuesday.

A one-day workshop on child issues was organised by women and child support unit and anti-human trafficking unit of the UT police in collaboration with Child Line Chandigarh at Recruit Training Centre, Sector 26, on Tuesday.

The workshop was held under the guidance of UT inspector general of police (IGP) RP Upadhyaya.
All sub-divisional deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), DSP (lines) Suman Kumar, station house officers (SHOs) and incharges police posts attended the workshop.

Child Line director Lt Col Ravi Bedi (retd), project director Dr Sangeeta Jund, and Youth Technical Training Society vice-president Bonny Sodhi sensitised the participants regarding child issues and made aware about the functioning of child line (No-1098).

Advocate Gautam Bhardwaj spoke on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012; advocate Jatinder Kamboj spoke on Juvenile Justice Act and Rajan Jha from Child Line India Foundation, New Delhi, spoke on child-friendly police station.

The main motive to conduct this workshop was to sensitise police officials while dealing with children and to make them aware of the laws related to children.
