Addressing mediapersons here, sangh’s national chairman Swami Krishnanand said the Punjab government had failed to protect cows in the state.

Representatives of 430 gaushalas would gherao the CM’s residence, he added.

He said the demands which were not met as yet included closing down of all slaughterhouses, getting grazing land free from encroachments, government donations and water and power connections to all cow shelters, a cow memorial, stopping the misuse of green fodder, setting up a ‘gau sewa’ commission and getting cows registered.

Swami said Punjab was the holy land of the 10 Sikh Gurus and saints and hence there should not be any slaughterhouse running here. He demanded rigorous imprisonment for those found involved in killing or smuggling of cows.
