CS to head panel on power projects in sugar industries

The Punjab government has constituted a six-member single-window committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary for giving clearance to co-generation of power in sugar industries.

The Punjab government has constituted a six-member single-window committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary for giving clearance to co-generation of power in sugar industries.

Stating this on Friday, a government spokesman said the secretary, science and technology; chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board; chairman, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited; managing director, Sugarfed; and Jarnail Singh Wahid of Wahid Sandhar Sugars Ltd, Phagwara; would be members of the committee. The chief executive officer of the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) would be the convener.

The committee would consider necessary and applicable approvals and clearances required for setting up co-generation projects in sugar industries within a stipulated time frame of 60 days from the date of submission of applications.
