HC stays order to transfer cases against Virbhadra

In a temporary relief to chief minister Virbhadra Singh, the Himachal Pradesh high court on Monday stayed an order of Income Tax Commissioner, Shimla, to transfer cases pertaining to income tax returns of Virbhadra and his family members to Chandigarh.

In a temporary relief to chief minister Virbhadra Singh, the Himachal Pradesh high court on Monday stayed an order of Income Tax Commissioner, Shimla, to transfer cases pertaining to income tax returns of Virbhadra and his family members to Chandigarh.

A division bench of the Himachal Pradesh high court, comprising chief justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, passed this order in response to petitions filed by the chief minister, his wife Pratibha Singh, son Vikramaditya Singh, daughter Aparajita Kumari, Anand Chauhan, who is the caretaker of Virbhadra Singh’s orchards and Chunni Lal Chauhan (proprietor of Universal Apples), who had challenged the orders of the income tax commissioner to transfer their cases on the ground of conducting coordinated and joint investigation in all cases.
