Industry bodies meet UT IGP; rue over theft, traffic snarls

IAC president Arun Mahajan pointed to the increased incidences of theft in the Industrial Area. The units in the area along the railway line were especially vulnerable, he added. “There seems to be an organised gang of juveniles committing petty thefts and the police have already been informed of it,” said Mahajan.

Industry leaders suggested a revamp of the beat system, increased patrolling, installation of surveillance cameras and regulation of traffic after office hours to prevent such incidents.

President of CCI, Sandeep Sahni, drew attention to the increased traffic owing to new malls and hotels in the Industrial Area, which would worsen further after the opening of the Elante Mall in Phase 1. Over 10,000 cars are expected to throng the mall, which would lead to total traffic chaos.
