The incident had taken place just 8 months after their wedding.

The complainant, Onkar Singh had alleged that on March 12, just eight months after the marriage of his daughter, Neha, with Karan, he received a call that she had died.

When he reached Karan's house in Manav Colony, Saketri, he found his daughter lying dead on a bed.

He was told that Neha had hanged herself with her chunni. When the police reached there, a part of the chunni was still hanging from the roof.

However, an unconvinced Onkar Singh filed a police complaint that his daughter was killed dowry, alleging that Karan used to thrash and harass Neha for dowry.

The police had booked Karan for dowry death on March 13 after the autopsy.
