Two married sisters were injured after the husband of one of them threw acid on them at Yamunagar on Monday. The women were attacked when they were on their way to a temple at Pathrawala Bazar locality of Jagadhari town on Monday morning.

The victims, identified as Pooja (35) and Rekha (38), are being treated at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
Jagadhri station house officer Narinder Singh Rana told Hindustan Times on telephone that the condition of the victims was stated to be stable.
"Pooja and her rickshaw-puller husband Ashok Kumar had strained relations, and he had allegedly thrown acid on his wife. As Rekha tried to save her sister, she also suffered burns on her face," said the SHO.
After throwing acid on the victims, Ashok took advantage of the foggy weather conditions and managed to flee from the spot.
The SHO said the victims were immediately rushed to a government hospital and the doctors suspected that the acid may have affected the women's eyesight.
"An investigating officer has been deployed at PGIMER, and will record the victims' statements after getting doctors' permission, but we have been told that the victims are out of danger," he said, adding that police teams were searching for the accused.
