Maximum temperatures hovered above normal levels in Punjab and Haryana on Monday even as rains lashed several parts of the region.
With muggy weather conditions prevailing in the city, Union Territory Chandigarh recorded the maximum temperature at 33.9 degrees celsius, two degrees above normal, a MeT department report said here on Monday.
The city recorded rainfall of 0.3 mm in the past 24 hours.
In Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani recorded maximum temperatures of 34.9 degrees celsius and 36.6 degrees celsius, respectively, two degrees above the normal.
Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded rainfall at 9.1 mm, 4.2 mm and 5 mm, respectively. Their maximum temperatures settled at 36.5 degrees celsius, 35 degrees celsius and 33.5 degrees celsius, respectively.
In Punjab, Patiala and Ludhiana received rainfall of 90 mm and 1.5 mm, respectively, in the past 24 hours. Their maximum temperatures were recorded at 35.1 degrees celsius and 34.5 degrees celsius, respectively. Amritsar recorded a high of 36.9 degrees celsius.
The MeT department has predicted light to moderate rains at few places in Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
