NAMS awards for two PGI doctors

Two doctors from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, have been awarded with the National Academy of Medical Sciences award.

Two doctors from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, have been awarded with the National Academy of Medical Sciences award.

Dr Kim Vaiphei, professor, department of histopathology, has been awarded with the prestigious Dr RM Kasliwal Award for 2013 by National Academy of Medical Sciences. Similarly, Dr Bikash Medhi, additional professor, department of pharmacology, PGIMER, has been honored with Dr VK Bhargava award.

Dr Vaiphei has been honoured for her research in understanding development of colon and rectal cancers and the fellowship she received from International Union Against Cancer (UICC), Geneva, in 2009 for her academic and research contributions in the same field.

Dr Medhi has been honored for research on Alzheimer's disease.
