Neeraj Sharma of Himachal wins rowing laurels

Neeraj Sharma of Nadaun area in Hamirpur district has won a silver medal in Asian rowing championship held in Malaysia.

Neeraj Sharma of Nadaun area in Hamirpur district has made his country and home state Himachal proud by winning a silver medal in Asian rowing championship held in Malaysia.

Neeraj is presently employed with Indian Navy. His father Surinder Sharma and mother Raj Sharma said that Neeraj was fond of rowing since childhood but could not pursue his hobby in his formative years.

A job with the Indian Navy gave him the opportunity to pursue his dreams. He underwent special training and his toil led him to a podium finish in Malaysia.

Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal congratulated him on his sporting achievement in the international event. Neeraj has since been honoured by union sports minister Ajay Makan.
