The programme was inaugurated in April by Priscilla Gonsalves in presence of the NSS team and faculty members and since then students and IIT staff spare time to educate poor children.
“They are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. Although the objective of the programme is on promoting children's literacy, the NSS unit will also take care of their nutritional requirements,” informed Gonsalves.
She added it was decided by the NSS team that every day along with knowledge and awareness, nutritious food and fruits would also be served to these children.
She said the main motive of the scheme was development of personality of a student through community service rendered during leisure hours.
