A local court has directed Mohali Police to probe the alleged misuse of the vehicles of Jagdish Singh Chahal, co-accused in the international drug racket, which were seized by Patiala Police during its investigation.
Additional sessions and district judge Parminder Pal Singh on Wednesday ordered Mohali police to examine a Mahindra Bolero Champer (PB 02 BL 1000), which is now in the custody of Mataur police station.
On January 6, Chahal's counsel had filed an application seeking the production of the seized cars, alleging that they were being used for drug trade by Patiala Police. He had alleged that the Bolero had met with an accident, in which an assistant sub-inspector had died.
Patiala Police had seized seven vehicles belonging to Chahal, who is a co-accused in the international drug racket. The case against Bhola and his aides was registered in the Banur police station, and was being investigated by Patiala Police.
"Banur Police have handed over the Bolero to us, and the car will be inspected as per the directions of the court," said Mataur station house officer Naveen Pal Singh Lehal.
