Punjab government has recovered a whopping Rs 211 crore through counter audit of stamp fee, payable on property registration in initial audit of over twelve sub registrar offices in the state.

Punjab government has recovered a whopping Rs 211 crore through counter audit of stamp fee, payable on property registration in initial audit of over twelve sub registrar offices in the state.

Disclosing the information here on Friday, an official spokesman said that international audit agencies, including KPMG, had presented their preliminary report of 12 sub registrar offices to the state government here.

The audit agencies revealed that they have completed the task of post assessment for one year in relation to documents registered or referred to under Section 47A by sub registrar offices of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Kharar, Ludhiana East-West-Central, Dera Bassi, Maajri, Mohali among others from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013 for sale and transfer deeds Only.

They have assessed a total of 184,185 deeds and found 51,334 deficit cases and under recovery of more that Rs 211 crore, the spokesman said.
