Punjab orders census of women with disability

The Punjab government has issued instructions to all the departments to conduct a census of women with disabilities. The data thus collected would be used to frame policies for the welfare of this marginalised section of society.

Stating this here on Wednesday an official spokesman said the government was fully committed for the overall development of weaker sections of society.

He said the state government had issued instructions to all the department heads and deputy commissioners to prepare a database of all the women with disability working in all government departments by conducting census.

They have been directed to send this data to the state government, he added.

He said this report would further be sent to the central government.
