Punjab to have 85 police outreach centres
The Punjab government is set to establish 85 police out-reach centres at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore to speed up the delivery of police services. This was stated by additional director general of police, HRD and community policing, SK Sharma, at a meeting here with nodal officers to review the working of Saanjh Kendras in the state.

Addressing the meeting, Sharma said the establishment of these out-reach centres would be another step to expand the reach of Saanjh Kendras in the state. He said all these units would be made operational by January 2014.
Punjab governance reforms commission chairman Dr Pramod Kumar, who was also present in the meeting, said special emphasis was laid on the launch of the third phase of the project by initiating community programmes in collaboration with community members to tackle problems of drug peddling, drug/human trafficking, crimes against women and other crimes.
