Respite from cold in Punjab, Haryana

Cold conditions abated a bit inmost parts of Punjab and Haryana on Saturday as minimum temperature rose by up to six degrees above normal in both states.

Cold conditions abated a bit inmost parts of Punjab and Haryana on Saturday as minimum temperature rose by up to six degrees above normal in both states.

Chandigarh saw a low of 8.1 degree celsius, up by three degrees above normal, the Met office said here on Saturday.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum of 10.4 degrees, up by six degrees above normal while Ludhiana and Patiala had minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees and 7.4 degrees respectively.

In Haryana, Karnal recorded the lowest at 5 degree celsius, down by 2 degrees below normal.

Ambala and Hisar recorded a low of 7.6 degrees and 8 degrees respectively. Narnaul and Bhiwani recorded night temperature at 8.5 degree celsius and 8.2 degree celsius.

Cloudy conditions also prevailed in various parts of Punjab and Haryana due to western disturbances.
