Satyarthi, maths prof Bhargav to get PU honorary doctorate degree

Noble peace prize laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi and Fields Medal winner and noted mathematician Prof Manjul Bhargava will receive Panjab University (PU) honorary doctorate degree from President Pranab Mukherjee on March 14.

Noble peace prize laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi and Fields Medal winner and noted mathematician Prof Manjul Bhargava will receive Panjab University (PU) honorary doctorate degree from President Pranab Mukherjee on March 14.

Mukherjee will visit PU to deliver a convocation address at the 64th annual convocation of the university.
In a communication sent to PU vice-chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, the duo has confirmed participation in the convocation. Fields Medal is considered the most respected honour in the field of mathematics and is also known as the ‘Nobel Prize of Mathematics’.

Satyarthi and Prof Bhargava will receive Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) and Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa), respectively.
