Shiv Sood of BJP elected as first mayor of Hoshiarpur municipal corporation

Shiv Sood of BJP was elected first mayor of Hoshiarpur municipal corporation while Prem Singh and Shukla Devi Sharma, both of SAD, were elected senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor respectively.

The BJP had won 17 wards but one Independent and three rebel winners had also joined the bandwagon soon after election results were out. The BJP has conceded posts of senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor to alliance partner but SAD leadership had been divided on choice of candidates. BJP and SAD together had a strength of 31 members in the 50 member house.
