Sixth suspect held in Pannu video case,Second suspect gets bail

The state cyber crime cell here on Friday arrested the sixth suspect on the charge of uploading the video of the recent assault on Punjab-cadre IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu in Uttarakhand.

The suspect has been identified as Sarabjeet Singh of Ludhiana, a taxi driver. He was accompanying another suspect, Gurvinder Singh, alias Baba Panesar, at the time of the incident. Sarabjeet was produced in the court and sent to one-day police remand.
Meanwhile, the court on Friday granted bail to Gursevak Singh, alias Sonu, in the case. Gurvinder is already out on bail.
Besides Gurvinder, Gursevak and Sarabjeet, the cyber crime cell has so far arrested Baljinder Singh Kanakwal, Sukhwinder Singh, alias Bobby, and Darshan Singh.
Speaking to HT, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, deputy inspector general (DIG), cyber crime cell, said the three main suspects were Gurvinder, Baljinder and Sarabjeet, who shot the video and uploaded it on social media. "We will soon divulge details of their role in the assault and uploading of the video clip," he added.
All six have already been booked under Section 66-A of the Information Technology (IT) Act and sections 295-A, 298 (both pertaining to hurting religious sentiments), 500 (defamation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
