Two killed, 11injured in road mishap with HRTC bus near Nangal

Two people were killed and 11 others were injured in a mishap on the Anandpur Sahib-Nangal road in the wee hours on Sunday.

Two people were killed and 11 others were injured in a mishap on the Anandpur Sahib-Nangal road in the wee hours on Sunday.

The accident took place around 2.30 am when a private bus, operating under the contract scheme of Himachal Road Transport Corporation, and on its way from Delhi to Dharamsala, hit a stationary truck near Jandla village.

As a result, bus conductor Anil Kumar (40) of Dhullu village in Dharamsala and passenger Sudha Rani (32) of Dharamsala died on the spot.

The injured have been identified as Santosh Kumar, Anand, Rajan Rai, Rakesh, Sunita, Ravijit, Kamaldev, Ashwani, Khushi, Anshuman and Hira Singh, who were admitted to the BBMB Hospital here.

A case under Section 279 (rash driving or riding on public way) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered against the bus driver at the Nangal police station.

Meanwhile, a youth was killed when a Mahindra jeep hit his scooter near Moosapur village on the Nurpur Bedi-Bunga Sahib road on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Manish Kumar (26) of Nurpur Bedi.
