Two youths held in Rohtak acid attack case

Rohtak police arrested two youths from a village in Jind for allegedly throwing acid on 18-year-old volleyball player Ritu Saini. The police are now on the lookout for one Ramniwas, who is the victim's cousin, for allegedly planning the crime.

Rohtak police arrested two youths from a village in Jind for allegedly throwing acid on 18-year-old volleyball player Ritu Saini. The police are now on the lookout for one Ramniwas, who is the victim's cousin, for allegedly planning the crime.

The police arrested Neeraj and Pradeep of Jaamni village in Jind district on Sunday evening. The two have been remanded in five-day police custody.

As per the information given by the two accused, Ramniwas offered them Rs 1.25 lakh and paid them a token amount of Rs 25,000. The police also seized the plastic glass with which the culprits threw acid on the face of the victim as also the motorbike used by the two.

DSP Sumit Kumar said: "Something must have happened between the victim and her cousin that led to this incident. Things will be clear after Ramniwas is nabbed, as we are unable to inquire Ritu because of her medical condition."
