UT cop’s son found dead in Amritsar

Son of a Chandigarh police inspector, a law student, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Amritsar on Tuesday. Harinder Singh’s body was found by the Amritsar police from Gill village on Amritsar-Mehta Road, it is learnt. The police are trying to locate four friends of Harinder who were reportedly with him before.

Son of inspector Tarsem Rana, Harinder had a tainted past, having been booked for highway robberies at Chandigarh and Panchkula some years ago. He had first been arrested in 2009 when he had allegedly robbed a gun store at Hoshiarpur, and later as part of a gang involved in robberies.

By 2011, he was was acquitted in these cases.
