A case was registered under the the Prevention of Corruption Act against eight accused – a clerk, stenographer of the DTO Anil Garg and agents – after an inquiry. Ludhiana vigilance bureau submitted the report to vigilance chief at Chandigarh on August 18, after two months of probe. Then, the vigilance chief ordered an FIR against the accused.

Santokh Singh, PS Gulati, Ashok Aggarwal, Baljinder Singh (DTO’s stenographer) and Vinod Sehgal (employee of Smart Chip company) are absconding.

On June 20, the chief secretary had conducted a surprise raid at the Suwidha centre of the district administration, following which the agents fled the spot leaving behind 62 licence forms they were carrying.
