Youth killed as bike rams into truck

A 20-year-old youth died in a road mishap near Durali village here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Jagtar Singh, a resident of Banur. He worked with a private company in Chandigarh. As per information, the incident took place when the victim was on his way to his office.

Relatives of the victim said a truck overloaded with bricks suddenly applied brakes on the road, and the victim’s bike rammed into it.

The truck driver managed to flee from the spot. But people noted the vehicle’s registration number, which helped the police identify the accused. The truck driver has been identified as Bhola Singh, who was enroute to SAS Nagar from Patiala.

A case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (death due to negligence) of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused, who is at large.
