A head constable with the Chandigarh traffic police suffered injuries after being hit by a motorcyclist in Sector 34 on Monday. This is the third incident in the past two days.
The police said head constable Om Parkash was hit by 21-year-old motorcyclist Rahul Kumar, a resident of Burail, when he was signalled to stop for not wearing a helmet. The incident took place near the Sector-34 market around 5 pm when Rahul was returning from a private coaching institute, along with his sister.
Om Parkash was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 by other cops. The accused and his sister, who was pillion riding, also sustained injuries in the accident and were taken to hospital by the cops. Rahul and Om Parkash are still admitted in the hospital, while Rahul's sister has been discharged.
The police registered a case of causing hurt by endangering life of a person against Rahul.
On Sunday, a cop was hit and then dragged for about 1 km on the bonnet of a car by a traffic violator near the Matka roundabout when he was signalled to stop for using mobile phone while driving. In another incident, a sub-inspector suffered injuries after being hit by a rashly-driven car near Sector 47.
