Two days after unidentified persons opened fire on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gurpartap Singh Khushalpur, no arrests have been made in the case yet.

Khushalpur escaped unhurt on Sunday night when two persons opened fire on him at his native Khushalpur village in Dera Baba Nanak tehsil of Gurdaspur district.

The police had taken into custody the CCTV footage of cameras installed on the road leading to Khushalpur’s house, but since the accused had covered their faces, it failed to identify them. “After monitoring the CCTC footage, we came to know that the two men with faces covered came on a bike. While one of them opened fire at Khushalpur, other remained seated on the bike. After firing two shots, they fled the spot,” Dera Baba Nanak police station DSP Deepak Rai told HT.

Two live cartridges recovered from the spot have been sent to forensic laboratory. “We have called forensic experts from Chandigarh for investigation,” he added.
