Karnataka election: BJP leader says 'nationalist Muslims, Christians will vote for...'

Senior BJP leader and former minister KS Eshwarappa said that the nationalists from all the religions are with them in this assembly polls. He also said that the BJP will be winning the mandate with at least 140 seats.

Speaking with the reporters, KS Eshwarappa said, “In Karnataka, nationalist Muslims, nationalist Christians and all Hindutvawadis are voting for the BJP. I am confident that the BJP will win the mandate with at least 140 seats on May 13.” KS Eshwarappa who has been a key Lingayat leader from Shimoga has retired from the electoral politics along with former CM BS Yediyurappa. He also served in various key positions of the government, including the deputy chief minister post.
However, Eshwarappa’s son KE Kantesh was denied a ticket by the BJP high command to contest in the assembly polls. The party instead fielded Channabasappa from Shimoga assembly constituency.
The polling for Karnataka assembly elections started on Wednesday morning in the state and voters are already standing in a line to use their democratic right. Top leaders like Siddaramaiah, Basavaraj Bommai, DK Shivakumar and Yediyurappa were among the early voters in Karnataka.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too urged the young voters of Karnataka to show up and exercise their franchise. He tweeted, “Urging the people of Karnataka, particularly young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers and enrich the festival of democracy.”
The results of Karnataka assembly polls will be declared on May 13.
