52-year-old milkman killed in Dera Bassi hit-and-run

The car driver fled the scene after hitting the victim’s bike near Adarsh Nagar in Dera Bassi on Wednesday morning

A 52-year-old milkman was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Adarsh Nagar in Dera Bassi on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Gian Chand, a resident of Mukandpur village.

Investigating officer Sukhdev Singh said Chand was on his way to supply milk around 7.30 am, when a speeding Maruti Suzuki Ciaz car hit his motorcycle from the rear, leaving him grievously injured.

Chand was taken to the civil hospital in Dera Bassi, where doctors declared him brought dead. The unidentified car driver, who fled from the scene, has been booked.
