60-yr-old arrested with 1kg opium in Chandigarh

Police’s crime branch arrested a 60-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh with 1 kg opium.
The accused, Birajpal, was produced before the court on Monday and sent to a five-day remand.
Police said a team of crime branch, while on patrolling duty in connection with the upcoming Independence Day. spotted an elderly person carrying a black-coloured bag in his hand turn away on seeing the police party near the football ground behind the bus stand in Sector 17.
On the basis of suspicion, he was apprehended and on checking 1 kg opium was recovered from his possession. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at the Sector 17 police station.
30-year-old held with banned vials
Police arrested Nitin, 30, of Manimajra after recovering 21 banned injections — 11 buprenorphine injections (2 ml each) and 10 injections pheniramine/milat (10 ml each) from his possession.
The accused was caught during checking from Tech Mahindra near IT Park, on Sunday. A case under NDPS Act was registered at the IT Park police station.
