A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Ambala information technology (IT) cell in-charge was found dead at his residence, police ruled out foul play on Monday.

Ambala Cantt station in-charge, inspector Naresh Kumar said an autopsy was conducted at sub-divisional civil hospital and the body was handed over to the family for last rites.

“Though a formal report is awaited, it appears to be a natural death as he was suffering from a liver disease,” he said.

Dr Munish Singla, a forensic expert who performed the autopsy, said, “Due to excess liquor consumption, he was at the end-stage of liver disease which affected the heart functioning and he died of cardiac arrest. Due to this, the body had turned bluish. There is no suspicion of poison consumption.”

Party leaders, including Haryana home minister Anil Vij, rushed to his place and offered condolences to the kin. Nagi was a member of the Sadar Mandal Executive Committee and was holding other important positions from his ward 25.
