The deceased were identified as Arshdeep Singh, 28, his wife, Jashandeep Kaur, 25, and their two-month-old son Gurbaj Singh. A 10-year-old boy, who is the brother-in-law of Arshdeep, was rescued and hospitalised in critical condition.
As per local police, the family had lit a fire inside the room to protect themselves from the intense cold during the night. They kept the door of the room closed. As a result, poisonous carbon monoxide emitted from the fire filled the room, and the occupants, who were asleep, failed to sense the danger, resulting in their death.
