Jalandhar bypoll: Congress seeks action against minister Dhaliwal over alleged poll code violation
Congress also filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging the AAP government of violating the model code of conduct and luring voters with promises
Condemning Aam Aadmi Party’s cheap tactics to woo voters, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday demanded action against Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal’s alleged violation of model code of conduct.
Congress also filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging the AAP government of violating the model code of conduct and luring voters with promises.
Congress also filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging the AAP government of violating the model code of conduct and luring voters with promises. Terming it a deliberate violation by the AAP leader, Warring demanded a high-level inquiry by the EC against the party and its MLA.
“Announcing a fund of ₹10 lakh for development and construction purpose to influence voters is strictly against the rules of the model code of conduct. Owing to its insecurities AAP’s leadership is resorting to these tactics to mislead the voter with additional fake promises and guarantees,” Warring said.
It’s alleged that while addressing a gathering in an election rally in the Adampur constituency in favour of AAP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku, Dhaliwal told the villagers that a grant of ₹10 lakh will be provided to them.
The video of his address also went viral following which election observer (general) Pritam Yashvant sought a report from the returning officer concerned. Warring added that the people will teach a lesson to AAP for its lies and failure to fulfil its poll promises.
“AAP leadership is desperately trying to ‘buy’ votes by offering funds. I challenge the AAP leadership to come clean on all the allegations against its leaders and answer the questions of the people of Punjab in public about the ‘Badlaav’ the state witnessed under its rule,” the PPCC president said.
