The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested drug inspector Ramandeep Gupta red-handed in Bathinda on Saturday while accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh.

The accused was posted in the drug wing of the food and drug administration’s drug wing in Muktsar.
According to the complaint, the company has been manufacturing allopathic medicines since 2020.The accused drug inspector had raided and sealed the company, ’’the spokesperson said.
After receiving the complaint, officials of the vigilance bureau’s Bathinda range laid the trap.
The complainant alleged that the accused drug inspector was demanding a bribe of ₹2 lakh per month in lieu of unlocking his sealed company,” said the spokesperson.
The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of ₹1 lakh from the complainant and was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act in Bathinda.
