Haryana: 14-yr-old girl killed, body dumped in canal; father, granddad arrested

The body has been sent to Agroha Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination and a murder case has been registered against them, the SHO added

The father and the grandfather of a 14-year-old girl have been arrested for allegedly murdering her and dumping her body into a canal in Adampur of Hisar district, police said on Monday. The accused suspected that she had gone out with a boy on August 9, officials said.

Adampur station house officer (SHO) Harish Sharma said police received information on Sunday that Vinod, along with his father Dharampal, killed his daughter on the night of August 11 and dumped the body in the Kishangarh canal near the Dhani Mohabbatpur bridge. “The body, which was stuffed in a sack, was retrieved. A preliminary investigation suggested that the girl had been living with her grandfather. Her father Vinod works as a confectioner in Rohtak where he lives with his second wife. The girl’s mother had left the family after marrying another man.”

Police said Vinod suspected she was with a boy on August 9. Enraged over this, both strangled her, the police said. The body has been sent to Agroha Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination and a murder case has been registered against them, the SHO added.
