Ludhiana: 105 kg ganja seized, one held

During subsequent interrogation, the accused led the police to another location from where 80 kg of ganja was recovered, taking the total seizure to 105 kg.

The city police crime branch has arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 105 kg of ganja from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Santosh Sahni, a native of Samastipur district in Bihar, who was presently living as a tenant in Amrit Colony.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP, investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar said a team led by inspector Navdeep Singh set up a checkpoint near Rajpura Puli in the Haibowal area following a tip-off. During checking, the police intercepted Sahni, who was riding a scooter without a registration number. A search led to the recovery of 25 kg of ganja from him.

A case under sections 20C, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered at Haibowal police station and further investigation was taken up.

During subsequent interrogation, the accused led the police to another location from where 80 kg of ganja was recovered, taking the total seizure to 105 kg. The accused has been arrested and produced before a competent court for further proceedings, the ADCP said.
