Ludhiana: 23-yr-old arrested with 10 stolen vehicles

The arrested accused, Mohammad Mehmud, 23, of Ganesh Nagar near Transport Nagar, Ludhiana, used to install fake number plates on the vehicles after stealing them, cops said.

The accused, Mohammad Mehmud, 23, of Ganesh Nagar near Transport Nagar, used to install fake number plates on the vehicles after stealing them, cops said.

Acting on a tip off, the accused was intercepted while crossing RK Road on his bike. Inspector Beant Juneja, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA, Staff 2) in-charge, said the accused is already facing trial in two cases –drug peddling and hatching a conspiracy to commit robbery. The police are questioning the accused to trace other members of the gang.

A case under Sections 379 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 473 (whoever makes or counterfeits any seal, plate or other instrument) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the accused at Moti Nagar police station.
