Ludhiana MC chief inspects Leisure Valley, Sidhwan canal waterfront project, marks deadline

These projects are being taken up to increase the green cover in the city under Smart City Mission. While the Leisure Valley is being developed adjoining MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar, Sidhwan canal waterfront Phase 2 is being developed alongside the canal starting from Jawaddi canal bridge till Dugri canal bridge.
Aggarwal said the leisure valley, which is spread in 6.7 acres of land, is being developed at a cost of ₹2.77 crore. Similarly, the waterfront front Phase 2 project starting from Jawaddi canal bridge till Dugri canal bridge is being developed at a cost of ₹5.07 crore.
Separate cycling and jogging tracks are also being established at the waterfront site. The residents would be able to spend leisure time with their families and friends. Different varieties of plants and trees are being planted in the green belts.
Aggarwal also inspected the compost pits established in Sarabha Nagar area on Rotary Club road. As many as 24 compost pits have been established by the civic body at the site, wherein the green waste is firstly shredded and then turned into compost. The compost is used in parks and green belts across the city. MC officials said 24 compost pits have also been established on Lodhi Club road.
Directing the contractors to complete the ongoing projects to develop green belts by March 15, Aggarwal also appealed to the public to support the civic body in keeping the city clean.
