Ludhiana: Neeru Katyal Gupta is new MC chief

The municipal corporation of Ludhiana will now be led by 2016- IAS officer Neeru Katyal Gupta being appointed as the new commissioner. The appointment came through a transfer list issued on Wednesday, under which Gupta replaced Aaditya Dachalwal, who had been serving as MC commissioner since September 2024. With this change, Ludhiana becomes one of the few major cities in the state where both the political and administrative leadership of the civic body is in the hands of women.
Gupta, is no stranger to the city. She has earlier served as additional deputy commissioner, additional chief administrator of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) and additional commissioner of the Ludhiana civix body. Her familiarity with the city’s administrative structure and experience across departments is expected to help her navigate the complex functioning of the civic body.
