Madhya Pradesh-based gang of thieves busted, used to target city wedding venues
Police said the gang members would come to Ludhiana during the wedding season and return home after executing a series of thefts
Two women members of a Madhya Pradesh-based gang of thieves landed in police net. The group had earlier stolen ₹27,000 from the handbag of a Chandigarh-based woman at Chaura Bazar.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mehak Sisodia, 20, of Kadiyan village in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and her sister Janki Sisodia, 19. Their mother Bahiya Sisodia, who was also involved in the crime, is yet to be arrested.
Inspector Sanjiv Kapoor, station house officer (SHO) at the Division number 1 police station, said Baljit Kaur of Chandigarh had lodged an FIR against the unidentified accused. The woman said she, along with her mother Manjit Kaur, had come to Chaura Bazar on November 23 for shopping. The accused turned up on the spot while posing as customers and stole ₹27,000 from her handbag.
The inspector added that the women were captured in the CCTVs installed at the shop.
“We keep a tab on the accused. On Monday as the women were seen in the market to find their next target the police arrested them and recovered ₹3,000 in cash from their possession. The accused told police that had handed over all the cash to their mother,” said the SHO.
“The accused told that they used to live near Railway station. They are also involved in stealing cash and jewellery from weddings,” he added.
A case under sections 379 (theft) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused. A hunt is on for the arrest of their aides.
