No let up in kerosene supply blues in Ludhiana

Even as reports of kerosene distribution through ration depots and select petrol pumps have raised expectations of smoother supply among local residents, the ground situation in Ludhiana remains far from normal. The food and civil supplies department saying it has neither received any formal notification nor the actual stock for onward distribution.
The Centre has already made an ad hoc allocation of 1,176 kilolitres of Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) for Punjab, but district officials said the process is still at the policy stage and has not translated into any executable district-level distribution plan so far.
Officials said there is no clarity yet on Ludhiana’s district-wise share, category-wise beneficiaries, retail price, or whether the fuel will be supplied through ration depots under the Public Distribution System or through selective petrol pump outlets.
This means that despite the central allotment, no kerosene stock has physically reached the district so far, and there is no confirmation on which petrol pumps, if any, would be authorised for sale.
District Food and Supplies controller (Ludhiana West) Sartaaj Singh Cheema said the department has so far received no formal district-level distribution order.
