She was ill since March 15, they said.

According to the civil surgeon office, the nurse’s sample was taken on March 18 and she was found positive for the virus. She lives alone in a rented house near the hospital and has been isolated at home. Doctors are treating her under the Covid protocol, it said.

As per the hospital, the nurse’s contact history was also being taken to collect samples of people who came in contact with her. All H3N2 tests are being done in Ambala’s Molecular Lab only, officials said.

Civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh said the district hospitals had made all arrangements to deal with any emergency.
