The new Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which took charge on March 16, had passed a vote-on-account of ₹37,120 crore on March 22 for the April-June period.
The state government was initially planning to present the budget in the first fortnight of June, but had to defer it due to the announcement of the Sangrur Lok Sabha byelection that is being held on June 23. It will now present its budgetary proposals for financial year 2022-23 after the bypoll.
The Sangrur seat was vacated by Bhagwant Mann after he got elected to the state assembly and took over as the chief minister in March.
