Ludhiana U-19 cricket team took a 59-run lead over Ropar on Day 1 of the third test match of the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament being played at Ropar on Tuesday.

Ropar won the toss and elected to bat, but was wrapped at 135 runs in 30.5 overs.

While Sanyam Gill of Ludhiana picked up six wickets, Vivek Gaur and Karanjot Singh Mangat took two wickets each.

On other hand, Ludhiana finished at 194 for three at the end of the play on Day 1.

After losing opener Sanyam Gill, who scored a single run, Saksham Vij and Bharat MadhoK steadied the ship.

While Saksham hit 61 runs in 122 deliveries showing great temperament, Bharat scored 22 runs in 40 balls. In the middle order, Ranvir Singh played a knock of 84 runs off 167 balls steering Ludhiana to a dominant position.

Both Harshdeep Pandher and Mayank Gupta of Ropar took a wicket each.
