Punjab: Man, minor daughter killed in Phagwara mishap
The incident took place around 8 pm when two cars collided with each other before hitting a stationary truck; victims were on a bike that hit the truck amid the pile-up
A man and his daughter lost their lives in a road accident near Chandigarh bypass in Phagwara on Monday evening. The deceased have been identified as Sukhbir Singh, 37, a resident of Pandori village and his seven-year-old daughter. Sukhbir’s wife has been hospitalised with severe injuries, police said.
The names of the deceased girl and her injured mother are being ascertained, say police.
The incident took place around 8 pm when two cars collided with each other before hitting a stationary truck. Sukhbir, who was riding a motorcycle, lost control amid the pile-up and rammed into the truck.
Police said Sukhbir and his daughter died on the spot, while his wife was rushed to the civil hospital from where she was referred to the Jalandhar civil hospital.
Deputy superintendent of police Palwinder Singh said an investigation was initiated. “We are yet to identify the names of the deceased minor and her injured mother,” he added.
