Punjab rural body polls: Sukhbir targets AAP, invokes Sr Badal’s legacy

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal held rallies for the upcoming elections of the zila parishad and block samitis in his home district, Muktsar, on Thursday.
Addressing election rallies in various villages, Badal invoked the legacy of his father, the late chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, while appealing for votes for the party’s candidates.

At a rally in Gidderbaha, Badal said that the SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal had started his political innings from the assembly segment in 1969, and the voters of the area always worked to strengthen the party.
He appealed to the voters to support the party in recognition of the development works done by ‘Bapu Badal’.
“These elections should be a mark of the end of the AAP government and the firm political position of the SAD,” he added.
On Thursday, Harpal Kaur, mother of the chief minister Bhagwant Mann, campaigned in support of the AAP in the district where the state cabinet Dr Baljit Kaur was also present.
