Punjab win second prize in National Energy Conservation Awards

New and renewable energy resources minister Aman Arora added that energy efficiency in buildings is a major area to save power in the commercial sector. He said this can be achieved through energy-efficient design, use of sustainable building materials, and adoption of the Energy Conservation Building Code.

Punjab bagged the second prize in the state performance category at the National Energy Conservation Awards 2025, as new and renewable energy resources minister Aman Arora received the prestigious award from President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Arora said the award reflects Punjab’s standing among the top performers in the country in energy efficiency. “We have installed 18,000 solar tube-well pumps in the agriculture sector, and efforts are underway to further increase this number. Additionally, 185 energy-efficient motors have been installed in the MSME sector, including Verka plants,” he said.
